Bruce S. McEwen was an American neuroendocrinologist known for his work on the effects of environmental and psychological stress on the brain. He was the Alfred E. Mirsky Professor and Head of the Harold and Margaret Millikin Hatch Laboratory of Neuroendocrinology at The Rockefeller University. His research transformed the understanding of how the brain changes throughout life and the impact of stress hormones on neural circuits and brain structures.
