Solomon H. Snyder
Distinguished Service Professor of Neuroscience, Pharmacology, and Psychiatry
Solomon H. Snyder is a distinguished neuroscientist who joined the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine faculty in 1966. He established the department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins in 1980 and served as its director until 2006. Snyder is renowned for his key discoveries in neuroscience and molecular pharmacology, including the discovery of opiate receptors and contributions to the understanding of gasotransmitters.
